The Challenge

Secure, remote use of Excel

Traditional methods of evaluation at the Coller School of Management relied heavily on manual grading, which proved to be time-consuming, error-prone, and lacking the flexibility to truly gauge students’ understanding. Additionally, the absence of a tool like Excel restricted students’ in accounting and economics the ability to apply their knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios, depriving them of a valuable learning opportunity. These limitations created a gap between educational objectives and the means to achieve them, necessitating a transformative solution to overcome these obstacles.

The Solution

Tomax Digital Assessment Solution

Tomax’s Etest solution seamlessly integrated with their existing system and allowed them to create assessments that were engaging, interactive, and tailored to the unique needs of their students. But what truly set it apart was its comparability with Excel, a tool that most of their students were already familiar with.

With the new software, they were able to design assessments that require the use of Excel, allowing students to apply their knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios, with the ability to use their own laptops and versions of their Excel. This not only enhanced their understanding of the subject matter, but also enhanced their assessment experience.

The software provided a user-friendly interface that made it easy for both instructors and students to navigate. It allowed the school to automate grading, reducing the time spent on manual grading tasks and ensuring more accurate results. This freed up valuable time to provide personalised feedback and guidance to students, fostering a deeper connection and improving their overall learning experience.

Moreover , the software offered insightful analytics and reporting features that allowed them to track individual students progress and identify areas where additional support was needed. This data-driven approach enabled them to tailor their teaching methods and interventions, ensuring that no student was left behind.

The exceptional nature of Tomax’s solutions enabled us, for the first time, to administer exams utilising Excel. An extraordinary enhancement that greatly elevated the overall assessment experience for our students. I am grateful we partnered with Tomax.

The Results
The team at the Coller School of Business said that the implementation of the Tomax Digital Assessment Platform was a breath of fresh air for the institute and their students. Maintain Support

Participants have access to a Text Reader which is designed to assist users with visual impairments, reading disabilities, or those who prefer auditory learning. It converts written content into spoken words, enabling users to listen to the text instead of reading it on screen. Operating the tool is straightforward for test takers: they can easily highlight the desired text and simply press play to have the text read aloud through their speakers or headphones.

We are continually evaluating and developing our services, web products, and solutions to improve against accessibility and design standards and best practices.

We are undergoing a WACAG Audit and will publish our accessibility statement once available. We are accessibility accredited by the Ministry of Education for our work in universities in the Middle East.
